Parcel Booking
Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms before booking a parcel with Mettur Transports (mSs). Understand packaging, documents, collection, charges and restricted goods so you can plan your shipment.
Branch-to-branch parcel service
Our parcel services operate from branch to branch. Customers must hand over parcels at the booking branch and collect them from the destination branch. Confirm route availability with the branch before booking.
We do not provide temperature-controlled transport. Special handling must be planned in advance and is available only after the branch confirms suitability for your route and goods.

Packaging & fragile goods
- Pack every parcel securely to protect it during loading, transport and unloading. Use suitable outer packaging and cushioning for the contents.
- Breakable goods must be packed with maximum care and are accepted at the owner's risk. The company is not responsible for breakage.
- The company is not responsible for damage to fragile or perishable items, or for money, jewellery or other valuables. See the prohibited-goods list below for items that must not be booked.
Documents & e-way bills
Provide the tax invoice, bill of supply, delivery challan or other documents applicable to your consignment. For vehicle transport, provide the registration certificate (RC) copy and other required documents.
An e-way bill must accompany the consignment wherever required by applicable GST rules and state notifications. Requirements depend on the goods, consignment value, route and applicable exemptions. Confirm the documents required before booking.
Customers are responsible for recoveries arising from issues with their consignment documents identified during checks by tax or government authorities.
Handling & return charges
- Loading and unloading charges must be paid by the customer.
- If a consignment is returned, transport charges apply for both the outward and return journeys.
Ask the booking branch to explain applicable freight and handling charges before confirming your booking.
Transit & parcel collection
Check the expected transit time with your booking branch. The company does not accept responsibility for the late arrival of parcels.
Parcels and luggage must be collected within 48 hours of arrival. If they are not collected within this period, the management is not responsible for loss or damage.
Storage & uncollected goods
If a parcel remains uncollected for more than five days, a demurrage charge of 5% of the parcel value per day applies, calculated from day one.
Consignments not collected within 30 days will be disposed of.
Insurance, loss & damage
- Parcels should be insured & taken at Consignor risk only., If any loss company Liable to Rs.500/- Only.
- We will take at-most care on handing the products, in Case of Damage, Up to Rs.500/- recovery on % basis. Above Rs.500/- to be claim on Insurance.
- In case the Parcels are lost or damaged in transit the company will not be liable though every care shall be taken by the company for safe transportation of parcels.
For help with a missing or damaged parcel, contact your booking branch and keep your booking receipt or LR number available.
Prohibited & restricted goods
The following goods are not accepted for transportation by Mettur Transports and must not be booked:
- Rationed goods and gas cylinders.
- Sandalwood, forest produce, bones, horns, cardamom, cloves and other contraband goods.
- Khanja, liquor, spirit, petrol, diesel, kerosene, oil and acids.
- Country drugs, kadukkai and jaggery.
- RTX, gelatin sticks, phosphorus and uranium.
- explosives, matchboxes and other flammable goods.
- Weapons, bullets, untanned leather, skins and hides.
- Human and animal remains.
- Acid-filled batteries and charcoal.
- Unpacked cinema films, cotton bales, dry leaves and woollen goods.
- Currency notes, gold, silver, diamonds and valuable jewellery.
- Alcohol, gutka and any other goods prohibited by the State or Central Government.
The parcel owner is solely responsible if objectionable or contraband goods are found during checks by excise, octroi or other authorities. Alcohol, gutka and other prohibited products, if found, will be handed over to the police.
Proof of delivery
Proof of delivery (POD) will be shared by SMS immediately upon delivery. Provide the correct mobile number when booking.
Full truckload bookings
For full truckload (FTL) bookings, the load factor must be communicated 3–4 hours in advance to help with planning.
Disputes & jurisdiction
All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Mettur, Salem District only.
