Packing and labelling your parcel

  • Use suitable packing: Choose a strong carton, crate or other packing appropriate to the goods. Cushion the contents and fill empty spaces to reduce movement during transport.
  • Pack for transfers between vehicles and hubs: Packing should be strong enough to withstand loading, unloading, stacking and handling during transshipment. Use reinforced outer packing and adequate cushioning to help protect the goods from damage.
  • Add waterproof protection for valuable materials: We recommend a waterproof inner liner or securely sealed protective wrapping for cloth bundles, silk sarees and other moisture-sensitive goods. Protect the contents as well as the outer package from water exposure during handling and transport.
  • Prevent leakage from semi-solid materials: For semi-solid materials accepted by the branch, use tightly sealed, leak-proof containers with an additional waterproof layer and strong outer packing. Confirm acceptance and packing requirements with the branch before booking.
  • Seal every package securely: Protect corners and edges, and avoid loose or exposed parts. Ask the branch about suitable packing for machinery, household goods or larger consignments.
  • Household goods require extra care: We take utmost care when handling household goods. However, their different shapes and sizes make them prone to damage during transport. Dismantle items where appropriate and pack each part carefully, with adequate cushioning and protection for fragile parts, corners and surfaces. The company is not responsible for any damage to household goods during transport.
  • Label each piece: Clearly write the sender's and receiver's names, mobile numbers and destination on every package. Remove old labels to avoid confusion.
  • Identify fragile goods: Inform the booking staff and mark fragile packages clearly. A fragile label does not replace protective packing.
  • Check the package count: Make sure the number of pieces recorded on your booking receipt matches the packages handed over.

After booking: tracking and collection

  • Check your booking receipt: Make sure the receiver's name, mobile number and destination branch are correct. Verify that the package quantity and amount match your booking. Inform the booking branch immediately if any detail needs correction.
  • Keep your booking receipt: Retain the consignment or LR number and share it with the receiver for shipment enquiries.
  • Track through the official website: Visit www.metturtransports.com for parcel tracking, or contact the branch with your booking number.
  • Confirm arrival before travelling: Check with the destination branch that the consignment is ready for collection and confirm its working hours.
  • Check collection requirements: Ask the destination branch what receipt, identification or authorization is needed, especially if another person will collect the parcel.
  • Check at handover: Verify the package count and visible condition when collecting. Bring any shortage or visible damage to the branch staff's attention at that time.
  • Plan collection promptly: Arrange pickup within the office delivery collection period described above to avoid storage charges.
